About these terms

These terms are between you and Tellbound (“we”). By joining the pilot or using the interview service you agree to them. If you have a question, write to [email protected].

The pilot

Tellbound is in a pilot: an early, free trial with a small number of storytellers and families. Things may change, break or stop while we learn. We will tell you before anything ever costs money; nothing in the pilot is charged.

Who can take part

The person who joins must be 18 or over. The storyteller must be an adult who understands what Tellbound is and agrees to talk with an AI interviewer and to be recorded. Please don’t sign someone up without their agreement.

Their story belongs to them

The storyteller and their family own their stories, recordings and the book. You give us permission to use them only to run the conversations, draft the chapters and make the book, as the privacy policy describes. We will not publish them or use them to promote Tellbound without separate written permission.

The interviewer is an AI

The interviewer is an automated AI system. It can mishear words or make mistakes. That is why chapters are drafted from the storyteller’s own words, uncertain names and dates are marked for checking, and every book is reviewed and approved by a person before it is printed. Please read the chapters and tell us what to correct.

Not a medical or counselling service

Talking about the past can bring up strong feelings. The interviewer is not a therapist, doctor or emergency service. If someone is in distress, please contact family, a doctor or local emergency services.

Using it fairly

Please use Tellbound only for telling a life story. Don’t try to break, overload or misuse the service, share private links publicly, or record other people without their agreement.

The style of the book

You choose the style of the book before it is written, and you can change it after reading a sample chapter. Every style is built only from what the storyteller said. We do not promise changes to the style after the book is printed.

The printed book

During the pilot, we will agree the details of the printed book with you directly. We do not promise a particular format, number of copies or delivery date.

Ending

You can leave the pilot at any time and ask us to delete your data. We may end the pilot, or someone’s part in it, at any time; if we do, we will try to give you what has been drafted so far.

Our responsibility
